You need a word from God to be a good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:21, 23).
Mary was needy for a word from God so she sat listening at the feet of Jesus instead of cooking. She understood instruction was better than satisfaction that comes from food.
Martha would have been happy with Mary for helping to cook.
But Mary chose the good part. Luke 10:42 (KJV); ‘But one thing is needful: and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.’
Mary chose to be needy for a wordy from God because it is the goody.
Mary would rather please God than please man. Mary would rather seek the glory of the One and Only God than seek the glory of men (John 5:30, 41,44).
Mary understood the kingdom of heaven is for those who are needy for a word from God.
Mary understood that instruction is the lifeline of the believer.
To crave instruction is to be needy,
To have instruction is to be wordy,
To understand the instruction is goody.
Mary understood that at the end of the day, only one thing will count, ‘Well done, Good and faithful servant.’
A quick question as you set out today,
Are you needy for a wordy? That is goody.
