I had a deep conversation with my wife about the injustice in our society. We talked about racial disparity in our society, black versus white, Historical Black Institutions versus Predominantly White Institutions, Immigrants versus nonimmigrants, the people versus police.
We agreed that everyone has been a victim of social injustice. We all tend to socially oppress other people based on our current social status. Our social status is a determinant of our social behavior and overall tendency to demonstrate social injustice. For example, your discrimination towards people is tied to your inability to sympathize with the social status of others.
My wife put it better, "We all might have been a racist without knowing it."
When you are in your latest car and you look down on someone walking barefoot - racism
When you have a home and you look down on the homeless - racism
When you are from a developed world and you look down on someone from a developing world- racism
When you have designer clothes and look down on someone wearing rags - racism
When you have food and look down on the hungry - racism
When you have a voice and look down on the voiceless - racism
Everyone is racist. It is a question of identity, when, where, and how. We must admit this social injustice caused by the identity crisis in our society. God made us socially equal. He created us with diverse beautiful skin colors - black, brown, yellow, or white. He made us in His image. We all have the same human anatomy.
We are reminded now more than ever before that if any change is needed, we can be the change. We can be the voice for the voiceless, the strength to the weak, and the freedom to the oppressed. We can be the ones to instill core values in our offsprings and peers. We comprise the world.
The fight against social injustice starts with you and me.
The little anger, detest, dislikes are the root of bitterness that result in death. Let us quench the fire of bitterness and spread love. Let us now than ever before be conscious of Christ's love that has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
"And hope does not put us to shame because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us." Romans 5:5; NIV. X factor -identity crisis, generational pre-orientation, family dis-orientation, hatred, and multiple chaoses
