Isaiah 32:9 (NKJV)
“Rise up, ye women who are at ease,
Hear My voice;
You complacent daughters,
Give ear to My speech.”
I love to study the Bible with the dictionary, particularly the Macmillan dictionary. I select key words from the Bible verse, search and apply its various meanings to amplify what God is saying.
By so doing, let us amplify five key words from Isaiah 32:9 -Rise up, women; at ease; hear my voice; complacent daughters and give ear to my speech.
Rise up, women
Get out of bed, women
Become stronger/grow stronger, women
Take your place, women
Protest and fight against the enemy, women
Increase your power and influence in the spirit, women
Increase your levels/come up higher, women
All of the above dictionary meanings of rise up have been amplified in context. Now, let's move on to others.
2. At ease
Confident and relaxed
Smug(arrogant, overconfident) people
3. Hear My voice
Become conscious of God's voice
Realize that God is speaking
Be informed about what God is saying
Listen to what God is saying
Pay attention to what God is saying and do it.
4. Complacent daughters
Too confident and too relaxed daughters who think they can deal with something easily, even though this may not be true
Careless and casual daughters
5. Give ear to My speech
To give attention, especially favorable attention to God
Listen/heed to God
To pay attention to God’s advice or warning and do it.
From our amplification, we have been able to get a deeper understanding of what God is saying. Below are the inferences from Isaiah 32:9;
This verse is solely addressed to women
It is a call to wake up from false confidence and relaxation
It is a call to repent from complacency in prayer
It is time to stop thinking we can do things easily without God
We need to listen to what God is saying in this season
We need to heed God’s clarion call and repent of complacency.
Isaiah 32:10-14 tells us the consequences of complacency in prayer and spiritual sensitivity.
In prayer, we can avert Isaiah 32:10-14; famine, sorrow, mourning, thorns, briers; and war in the nations of the world. In the secret place of prayer we can subdue the real enemy until the whole world comes to the full knowledge and understanding of God.
We can pray Joel 2:28 till God’s Spirit is poured out on all flesh, our sons and daughters prophesy, our old men dream dreams and our young men see visions.
We can intercede with God on behalf of the nations according to Isaiah 32:15-18 till;
the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is counted as a forest
justice dwells in the wilderness
righteousness remain in the fruitful field
God’s peace floods the nations of the world
God’s peace floods every home
God's peace floods the heart of victims of domestic violence, they take courage to get out
God’s gift of perfect peace floods the heart of women as we keep praying and waging war against the enemy with confidence.
Isaiah 32:11 (NKJV)
“Tremble, you women who are at ease;
Be troubled, you complacent ones;
Strip yourselves, make yourselves bare,
And gird sackcloth on your waists.”
We will strip ourselves of worldly pleasures such as food, sleep or entertainment. We will become fervent and steadfast praying women in the secret place. We will pray on the go even when driving, cooking and everywhere. We have become aware of the great power deposited in us to intercede for nations till the world comes to the full knowledge and understanding of Christ. For we know that “the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” - James 5:16b (NKJV).
Yes, we know that the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous woman avails much because “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.” - James 5:17-18 (NKJV).
If Elijah could pray earnestly, then we will pray earnestly till the tide turns in our children’s favor. We will arise from complacency and pray till Jesus is known in all the nations. We will pray till Isaiah 32:15-18 is evident.
Dear Woman, Arise and Pray.

Women, be aware of the power the lord has deposited in you.
