STAND FIRM

Writer: Wealth OladeleWealth Oladele

The armor of God is an expression of Christian spiritual tools for battle. Everything, the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, performs a supporting role for the believer's stand. We must guard our work of faith, protecting our head (what we think), heart (what we feel), and hand (what we do). The armor of God is an inclusive part of our walk of faith in God, an indication of continuous battle until our last breath. Whether the fight is for our health, relationships, education, or finance, we can stand victoriously in our relationship with God. Nothing can defeat our fellowship with God. Apostle Paul asked us, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?" Romans 8:35. Our national tribulation, distress, persecution, nakedness, peril, or sword is not powerful enough to cause our separation from God.

To stand firm means our relationship with God must persuade us to remain in Him no matter what, even in death. No matter what life throws at us, whether in our low or high moments, we stand inseparable from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. We can freely display our affection towards God as we like, but we must remain firm. "Stand fast, therefore, in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1. We can not stand for long with yokes of bondage. The word "stand fast" means to persevere. We persevere because of Christ's victory on the cross. Not persevering can take away our freedom of fellowship. Fighting battles in life are not peculiar to believers in Christ alone. Our approach is unique - we hold on victoriously because Jesus defeated everything possible on the cross, anything you could ever face. Irrespective of what you face and how life is treating you, stand in God's promises until your enemies live in defeat and you see the fullness of God's purpose for the fight. His purpose for the battles we face is to find ourselves in Him. We can see Him in action when we pray. Will you pray?
